The licensed local team behind Plumbers In Burwood
Who we are

The people behind
every Burwood job

Plumbers In Burwood is the local face of a licensed plumbing team that works the inner west's older housing constantly. Victorian and Federation homes whose drainage was threaded in long after the walls went up, and which nobody has ever drawn.

A licensed plumber for the inner west, not a call centre.

Ring us and a plumber answers, at whatever hour. Nobody takes a message for a van going cheapest that afternoon, nothing is sold on, and the invoice carries nothing that was not discussed first.

The habit that matters most in this housing is a slower one: we look before we form an opinion. On a house where the drainage was retrofitted into finished masonry and added to for a century, confident advice given without a camera is guesswork with somebody else's money, and on a heritage block being wrong is expensive in a way it simply is not elsewhere.

Licensed, insured & accountable.

Licensed & registered

NSW Plumbing Licence 368473C, and every job, gas or water, is done to the Australian Standards. Plumbing carried out without a licence is illegal here and will void a home insurance claim, so the number is a fair thing to ask of anybody. Ours is on the quote before you agree to it.

Insured & to standard

We hold public liability and workmanship cover, plus Master Plumbers Association NSW membership. The lifetime workmanship warranty is a document you keep, which in a house that will outlive all of us is worth more than a verbal assurance.

Publicly reviewed

The Google reviews on this page belong to Dr Leak Plumbing, our sister brand. Same owners, same licensed crews, same vans arriving. Directing you to real reviews under a different name felt more honest than generating a new set under this one.

Built by a plumber, run like it.

A licensed plumber started this in 2020, already more than ten years into working around Sydney. One van became a team and the three rules did not change: be there when you said, settle the price first, leave the place as you found it.

That last one means something particular in this suburb. Working in a house where the skirtings, the plaster and the tiling predate federation is not the same as working in a project home, and treating it as though it were is how irreplaceable things get destroyed by somebody who was only trying to find a pipe.

“If I wouldn't be happy with the fix in my own home, it's not finished. That's the whole job.”

The plumbing we see across Burwood.

One fact explains most of what makes this suburb different, and it is a matter of dates: the grand houses here are older than Sydney's sewerage.

1
The sewer arrived after the houses

By 1889 the network reached around 25,000 properties across the inner city and spread outward from there. The Priory on Burwood Road was built in 1877 and Gayton in 1888.

2
So they were built with a cesspit, not a drain

There was nothing to connect to. Drainage came years or decades later and had to be worked into a building that was already standing.

3
Which is why the pipework runs oddly

Around the outside, under a later addition, through a lightwell, doubling back. It takes the route that was physically possible rather than the sensible one.

4
And nobody wrote any of it down

It was retrofitted by whoever did the work, at whatever date, then added to by every owner since. There is no drawing of it anywhere.

5
The failures sit at the junctions

A bathroom from the 1920s, another from the 1960s, an extension from the 1990s, each tied into whatever was there. Those joins go before the runs do.

6
So the camera is the first tool

Not an upsell. It is the only way anyone establishes where a line actually goes, and it costs a fraction of opening ground in the wrong place.

How we work.

1
A licensed plumber picks up, at any hour

Ring at three in the morning and you get somebody who can start driving, not an answering service holding it until the office opens.

2
We ask the age of the house first

It is not small talk. It decides whether this is a straightforward job or a line nobody has ever mapped, and it changes what goes in the van.

3
One figure, settled before we begin

You approve a number first and that is what you pay. On a house with unknown drainage that also means the risk of the unknown sits with us rather than with you.

4
And we open one place, not several

Where something has to be cut into, it gets located precisely first. What is behind these walls does not come from a hardware store.

Who operates this site

"Plumbers In Burwood" is a marketing name used to advertise licensed plumbing services supplied by Dr Energy Pty Ltd (ABN 40 679 445 884), trading as Dr Energy Electrical & Plumbing, NSW Plumbing Licence 368473C. All plumbing work booked through this site is carried out under that licence.

The Google reviews shown on this site belong to Dr Leak Plumbing, our sister plumbing brand. Both are run by the same people with the same licensed crews, so those reviews describe the team that will actually turn up.
